• The Christmas Watermelons (short story)

    12/21/2024

Once upon a time, two watermelons, Wally and Wendy, lived in a cozy little fruit market. They were the best of friends and loved to play together every day. As Christmas approached, the market was filled with excitement and decorations. The fruits and vegetables were all buzzing about the upcoming holiday.

Wally and Wendy had never experienced Christmas before and were curious about the fuss. They saw the apples hanging ornaments on a tiny tree, the oranges singing carols, and the bananas wrapping gifts. Wally turned to Wendy and said, "We should do something special for Christmas too!"

Wendy's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Let's make a Christmas surprise for everyone in the market!" she exclaimed.

The two watermelons put their heads together and came up with a plan. They decided to create a big basket. A swing was hung on the basket's handle while Wendy and Wally made slides from large spoons. The basket was decorated with flowers and filled with white sugar to make it look like snow. The fruits gathered to play. Some were swinging, others were jumping and swimming in the sugar, and others were sliding.

The fruits and vegetables were overjoyed,

"Wow, this is amazing!" said an apple. "Thank you, Wally and Wendy!"

The oranges started singing carols, and everyone gathered to enjoy playing together. The market was filled with laughter and joy as they celebrated Christmas together.

Wally and Wendy felt warm and happy inside. They made their first Christmas special by sharing their love and kindness with their friends. From that day on, Christmas Watermelons became a beloved tradition in the little fruit market.
